Fishville Adds New Gifts & Antiques : Fishville developer Zynga rolled out another small game update earlier today, this time adding a new giftable fish, a few new antique gifts, and (for the first time) released antiques to the Fishville store.

The new gift fish is the Pink Skunk Clown Fish, and it is only available for five more days. So players feeling generous should be sure to send as many of them as they can before time expires. Like the other limited-edition fish, this clown fish has a longer growing time (48 hours), and a correspondingly larger payout.

Also added in today’s updates were several new antiques! A Sunken Bell, A Neptune Statue, A Rusty Anchor, and a Metal Pipe are all for sale now in the Fishville store. Other new antiques are available to send to friends via the gift page. We’ve written about Fishville’s innovative antiques system before, but to recap, these decorations actually gain value the longer you keep them in your tank. If you wait too long to sell them off, they become “junk” and lose their value, however. The trick is to sell them at just the right moment.

Decorating Your Fishville Aquarium : If you thought keeping up with the neighbors’ was difficult, try doing it under water. FishVille is a game where it’s not just about the fish, it’s about the tank too. If you want to get started making a sweet set up, it isn’t all that hard to do. So, let’s explore how you go about pimping your tank out.

The first time you load up your digital aquarium you don’t really have much to work with. The easiest way to get decorations is to make sure you have lots of people in your neighborhood. Then you can send each other a free gift every day. The good thing about gifts is that you can sell them if you don’t like what you were given to buy stuff you do actually want.

However, you do get experience points for purchasing your plants and decorations. This is just one of the extra ways to help advance you in FishVille. For every 100 coins you spend on your decor you get 1 point of experience. You can figure this total out by multiplying the coin cost of a given item by .01. For example, the surfboard will cost you 1200 in coins and you will get 12 experience points from its purchase.

Another cool feature, when it comes to making your tank look good, is that you can adjust the size of your items. This is done by using the pointer tool. All you need to do is select your item and then in the bottom left hand corner of your tank you will see 2 arrows, a plus sign, and a minus sign. If you use these then you can customize how big or small you would like your stuff to be. This is helpful for reducing clutter. You can even make a family of rubber ducks, by making one big one and multiple small ducks.

Zynga is always updating purchasable items for FishVille, so make sure you check your FishVille shop frequently to see what new items they may have for you to try out.

Getting More Tanks in FishVille : When it comes to playing FishVille the key is to mature and sell the most amount of fish you can. When you first start out playing you get one tank. This tank will hold 15 fish for you. As you start to play more frequently and gain more experience you will advance in levels, thus expanding the number of fish you are allowed to have. For instance, when you reach level 4 status, your tank goes from allowing 15 fish to 30 fish. The next time this happens is when you get to level 10. At level 10 you will be able to put 50 fish in one tank and unlock the second tank. This is as far as the first tank will grow. After this point, the only way to get the ability to have more than 50 would be to go buy the second tank.

There are two different ways to buy the tanks. One is with sand dollars and one is with FishVille coins. If you choose to use sand dollars, then this means that you will need to actually pay 20 dollars out of pocket to get your next digital aquarium. If this option won’t work for you then make sure you have at least 8 neighbors by the time you get to the 10th level. If you fall short on the amount of neighbors need, then all you have to do is go to the profile page for FishVille. At the profile page for this application you will find all the fans of it and a lot of people leaving comments asking you to add them. If you do choose to invite people to game with you, please make sure you tell them what it is for in the request. Otherwise, you will probably just be ignored.

The more you play FishVille, the more options will be unlocked for you. There are a lot of steps that you can bypass if you are fortunate enough to be able to use sand dollars. However, for most of us this isn’t going to work. Just keep adding neighbors until you have enough for each tank. Make sure you earn enough coins by selling your fish and then you can have up to 8 tanks. The good thing about being able to have that many tanks is the amount you will be able to profit. Plus, you can experiment with each tank. Try putting only one type of fish in one tank and different ones in another. You can even decorate each tank to have a different theme.
